After Easter, David and I took our first trip to visit our new nephew, Zach....and his parents too! :)
After much time organizing for first long trip (we took our only other trip away from the boys for just a
weekend when they were 19 months old), we finally left for our 6 day trip to LA and Santa Barbara!!
| David and his nephew Zach - their first meeting! |
| Rachel, David and baby Zach - we hadn't seen Rachel in 6 months! |
| A visit to Canter's Deli in Los Angeles - look at Zach's shock at the size of our Corned Beef sandwich |
| A look down at the Griffith Park Observatory where we started our hike to the top! |
Just the two of us.....it was SO nice to have a parents-only vacation!
(Though we certainly missed the boys like crazy!) |
| We took a trip to the Venice Boardwalk......interesting....... |
| Watched the Dodgers play the Padres |
| David caught a ball! |
| Then the two of us went to Santa Barbara - what a beautiful place! |
| Our final goodbye with baby Zach and Rachel and Jeff before we left early the next morning. But it wasn't for long!!! |
Because just a week later, Rachel and Zach came to visit us at home!! Carson and Alden were SO excited to meet their new cousin! The morning that we went over to Grandma Kathy and Pops house to see them when they arrived, Alden told me he wanted to give "Baby Zachary Benjamin" (that's what they call him) some of his old baby toys.....it was so sweet - and all on his own!
| Giving Zach the toys they brought |
| So happy to meet him - they just kept wanting to touch him and kiss him :) |
While Pops and Daddy were at work, a cute family shot!
Uncle Jeff had to stay back in LA to work :( |
| I didn't get a shot of me with Zach in LA, and I needed one of me holding this sweet cuddly boy!!! |
Then, the next weekend, a short trip to the beach - my favorite part about St. Teresa is when the tide goes all the way out. And now it is Alden and Carson's favorite time to play too!
Carson torturing collecting hermit crabs |
| And having Papa kiss a boo boo |
| Alden - the master puddle-jumper! That's all he wanted to do! |
| Alden and his Papa |
| Brothers examining their shells |
| Our Family - May 2012 |
| My beach bums :) |
| Floating in the shallow tide.... |
And a final pose from Alden :)
A few stories to share because I have not been writing them down and I need the memories!!
On potty training...
After our total failure to potty train in January, Carson is potty-trained!!! He did it on his own - YAY!!! So, our diaper bill has just gone down by almost half! Alden has no interest, and that's fine with us! We will wait until he gives us cues - easier by far!
On napping....
Mommy: "Ok guys, you're going to stay in your beds today right? NO jumping out of your cribs....ok??"
Alden: "That's right Mommy, that's how we roll!"
A car ride..
On the way to church, a car cut us off in traffic and barely missed our car, so I honked my horn and said "Man! What are you DOING??"
Then the boys asked me what happened, and I said "that man didn't see me and moved into my lane and almost hit me!"
Then I hear Alden say under his breath: "This is a brand new car, and that old man almost hit us, and then our car would be broken."
Carson said: "Then we would have to walk to church.... on the STREET"
Silly words
Carson has a baby he loves to carry around - I asked him the other day what her name as....he told me Oregano.....
More pictures to come from their first swimming lessons and another trip to the beach with Uncle Scott and Aunt Logan!
