Teeth, Bdays and Bugs

I could not tell you with what, but we seem to have been very busy the past few weeks.

A few days after my last post, I noticed something sharp in Alden's mouth and Poof! a Tooth had made its appearance! No problems yet on the nursing front with that, and no more have surfaced. However, teething tablets have become quite the necessity before naps and bedtime. Carson is still just gumming along, but I'd expect one soon with him too.

Here is Alden with his Sophie - who is very comforting during this time for him
David turned the big 3-0 and we had a little party for him. Didn't get a shot of the boys with their birthday Dad, but here is a cute shot of the boys with my parents singing Happy Birthday to Daddy!
We also had a bday celebration for Scott and Logan on Sunday too - March is a major birthday month for our fam. Happy Birthday TODAY to Logan and Granddaddy!!!

Maggie, our firstborn, turned 3 on Tuesday. Carson LOVES her - Alden does too, but Carson just cannot focus on anything other than Maggs when she is in the room.

Carson during their morning playtime - he is on his quilt just watching her for a long time. She is so good with them, she knows to stay off of their play area too.

We also have a new type of playtime these days. The boys just sit and play with each other and their toys and it is SUCH a change of pace - it allows me to get a few more things done, as well as to be able to sit and play with both of them at the same time!

Poor David got the stomach flu this week and is still recovering. After quarantining him to our room for 40 hours, I allowed him out for a nice lunch outside yesterday before returning him to his barracks. My goal is to keep myself and the boys from getting this nasty roaming virus. I truly do not know how I would take care of the Alden and Carson if I got what David had this week.
Alden and Carson enjoying a sighting of David this morning for the first time in a while.
Our wonderful parents (Mimi, Grandpa, Grandma Kathy and Pops) got us and the boys these great umbrella strollers for our future travels through airports. They have already come in handy this week when I not only had mom duty, but also nurse duty for David and Dad duty for Maggie. The boys enjoyed sitting in their new strollers on the back porch and watching me throw Maggie's toy for her. I got several things done at one time during that task!

Checking out the world from new views.....

This weekend, we decided to enjoy the fantastic weather. Daddy golfed on Saturday and the boys and I hung out with Mimi and Grandpa - we went to Grandpa's favorite store - The Home Depot and found Daddy's birthday present and then we went to lunch. I didn't have the camera with me to catch any fun pics, but here is one shot of the boys in their nursery before we left the house. That's right, you can kind of see it but they are sitting up on their own! They're very interested in Grandpa taking their picture too!

On Sunday, we took our first hike with the boys in our packs that Rachel and Jeff gave to us! We went out to the Miccosukkee Greenway and it was great! We can't wait to be able to use them in the mountains of North Carolina and Colorado this summer. David and I got serious workouts on this hike!!!

Getting the boys all set in the packs to begin the hike.

After our hike we went to Grandma Kathy and Pops' house for dinner - check out the boys sitting up again! - Daddy is behind them just to spot! :)

We prop pillows up behind them at home just in case they fall backwards onto our hard floors but they can sit up for several minutes at a time now!!!

8 months and a weight check!

Today, Alden and Carson are 8 months old. We went back for a weight check today at the pediatrician because 2 weeks ago their growth curves (in particularly Carson's) were headed a little more sideways than up. So, Dr. K asked us to double their solid food during these past two weeks and see what happens.

Carson
Between months 5 and 6 = gained 4 oz
Between months 6 and 7 = gained one pound (started solids)
In the last two weeks = gained almost one pound
Currently weighing in a 13 pounds 1o oz.

Alden
Between months 5 and 6 = gained 8 oz
Between months 6 and 7 = gained one pound (started solids)
In the last two weeks = gained almost one pound
Currently weighing in at 14 pounds 4 oz These solids are working!!!!!
They now each weigh exactly 10 pounds more than their birthweight.

Alden's new thing is his tongue - he has it out all the time!

Love.....

That is really the best word to describe our weekend.

We started out with our 5 year wedding anniversary on Friday. We went to Shula's and we had a fabulous meal in the best table in the place I'd say! Although we decided on no gifts, David got me a MUCH needed massage (my poor back these days). I am quite excited to use that soon! It was very special and such a nice time to reminisce about what was happening 5 years ago.

a pic from our wedding.....

Headed to dinner on our 5 year wedding anniversary!

On Saturday, my cousin Mat got married to his beautiful bride Jess. The weather held out and it was such a magnificent afternoon. I wish I had a picture of Mat and Jess from the wedding but my hands were pretty much full the entire time!!!

The boys were certainly dressed for their first wedding and I have to share the pics of them in these cute outfits that Mandy and Marsha gave to them at one of my baby showers. Getting all 4 of us dressed and out the door in time to drive to the wedding and arrive on time was, needless to say, quite the challenge. Thank goodness Grandma Kathy and Pops came up to help us get them ready. She was able to snap a few cute pics on the way out the door too!

It's nap time and Alden is not quite so happy about being dressed up and put in his carseat. But he and Carson were such troopers at the wedding!

A full shot of their outfit, modeled by Carson :) He was getting pretty tired too!

Our little family, all dressed up and ready for the afternoon. The boys ended up falling asleep during the ceremony and that was GREAT because they were in better spirits throughout the afternoon. If only David and I had remembered the slings/carriers - after the wedding he realized why I needed a back massage! I don't need to tell all of the moms out there how much your back hurts with a little one - now Daddy knows too :)
